328 pp., portrait frontis; 8vo; cloth; black & white photos; without dust jacket. Affixed to rear endpaper is a printed envelope of the El Mirador, Palm Springs, California showing vignette of the hotel. Contents of the envelope are a typed recipe for Rhine Wine Soup, "From the Original Receipt" and signed by Chef Cooney of the El Mirador [c. 1935]. In addition, there is a printed columnar billhead for the Antlers Hotel, San Bernardino, California. Entries on the face in pencil for a night's stay with 'Paid' handstamp dated, 1935. On the back are pencil recipe notes for a spiced coffee drink, preliminary recipe notes for Rhine Wine Soup. Slight to moderate tanning of spine & endpapers including offset to rear ep's from envelope.
