Bullfighting., Fulton, John.
2 Fulton, John. Bullfighting.
N.Y.: The Dial Press, 1971. 1st Printing. Fine condition in Near Fine jacket, with protective mylar wrap
Inscribed by the author on title page with his large pen sketch of a bull in the foreground, a hint of what is possibly Seville or San Miguel de Allende in the background. 197 pp.; 4to; red cloth, spine stamped in gilt with elaborate illustration in gilt of a fighting bull on front cover; in dust jacket. Illustrated with over 200 photographs and 15 line drawings. Introduction by Barnaby Conrad. Very light wear to white jacket.

Laid in are newspaper clippings regarding Fulton's illustrious career as the first and only American ever promoted in Spain to bullfighing's highest professional rank - matador de toros. Also an accomplished painter, many of his popular works in private and public galleries were painted with a single pigment: the blood of the bulls he had killed in the ring. He did this, in his words, to emulate the “primitive matador-painters who had to limit themselves to natural media taken from the very animals they killed.” Bullfighting is an insider's primer on how to be a Matador..
