Amadeo R.Tommasini was a master typographer at the University of California Press. Among his accomplishments was overseeing the design and printing of the first United Nations Charter after the inaugural conference of 1945 in San Francisco. Tommasini was the composing room foreman on the project and was reported to have averaged one and one half hours of sleep a night as he pushed the charter to completion.
