Revised & Reset. 271 pp., frontis, includes index & appendices; 4to; silken black cloth, red leather spine label stamped in gilt, in pictorial green dust jacket. Illustrated with plates of 1 color, else black & white photographic reproductions; drawings. Light foxing to foredge. Jacket price-clipped with fading at spine, light soil at extremities, 1" closed tear bottom edge. We've added a sculpture, possibly polyurethane? of woman playing stringed instrument. The image seems to show black spots on her hat, but in fact those are designed openings hitting a dark background.

In addition to various corrections, revisions, date checks, including those by the author in 1951, the editor notes: "For this revised edition, the parenthetic material which so cluttered the text in the fist edition has been transferred to footnotes, so that the text can be read more smoothly."
