Both volumes with frontis and text illustrations by Dan Beard. Both volumes with small price in ink top leading corner front endpapers. Both volumes with rubbing at edges and bumped corners; some smudging to front endpapers. Bank-Note with one spot foxing or stain to leading lower edge of p. 43 to 53, increasing to about dime size for two pages before diminishing, with some additional foxing in gutter pps. 62,63. Front hinge a little weak on Bank-Note. Overall good or better.

Inscriptions in pencil front endpapers of Claimant: "Mamie Thomas, Amador City, Dec. 20, 1894, By Mother Thomas." Second endpaper with " Mamie Thomas, Amador City, Dec. 25, presented by Mamma." Bank-Note name in pencil front paste-down: J. H. Thomas Jr.
