Copy S of Twenty Press Copies, printed on Ragston paper. 123 pp.; 8vo; bound in light orange cloth with paper spine label; tipped-in black & white photographs. In light brown slipcase. The book is based on original letters from the collections of the Harry Ransome Humanities Research Center at The University of Texas, most appeared here for the first time.
This book was designed, and its printing supervised by James and Carolyn Robertson at The Yolla Bolly Press in Covelo, California. It was composed in Eric Gill's Perpetua types. Two hundred forty-five copies are on Ragston paper, of which two hundred twenty-five are numbered 1 to 225 and twenty Press copies bear letters A to T. The edition was printed at The Yolla Bolly Press, Aaron Johnson, Diana Fairbanks, and Daniel Flanagan assisting. Title page initials were drawn by Yvette Rutledge. The photographs were printed by Phelps-Schaefer Lithographics. The Monotype composition was provided by Los Angeles Type Founders, and the edition was bound at The Schuberth Bookbindery. The book was published on the one hundredth anniversary of the birth of Robinson Jeffers, January 10, 1987.
