This book is one of an edition limited to 225 copies, designed, hand-set and printed by Lewis and Dorothy Allen; Pen and ink drawings by Lawrence E. Walker. 44 pp.; 12mo; calf-backed speckled light blue paper over boards with front cover vignette; spine stamped in blind. Plain paper sticker (1.5") covering part of front pastedown; tanning to gutters; covers a bit darkened near front edges; faint dime sized spot rear cover near front edge; leading corners bumped.

Victor Fourgeaud(1815-75), South Carolina born doctor, who went from Missouri to San Francisco in '47 to practice medicine. The article reprinted here verbatim, with typos and other errors was among the first to announce the discovery of gold.
