Bottom edge of spine stamped Elz. 1649. Rear joint starting top half; light rubbing spine edges, corner; light stain most pages just into top margin, some pages light stain leading top corner tip. Otherwise a clean, tight copy. Text in Latin.

Claudius Salmasius is the Latin name of Claude Saumaise, a French classical scholar who was a prolific author and textual critic, but caught Hell from Milton (Pro Populo Anglicano Defensio) for undertaking this work, provoked by the execution of Charles I, and apparently underwritten by Charles II.
